| Register
the death
|
Proper death
registration procedures are to be followed once
death occurs, regardless of the place where it occurs, be it in
the house, in the hospital, or overseas.
The medical practitioner will
issue a CCOD (Certifying Cause Of Death) document,
and this is to be submitted to the Registry of Births and Deaths (RBD)
counter at the hospital, or any of the Neighbourhood
Police Posts (NPP) for official death
registration.
When registered, a Death
Certificate and a Burial/Cremation Permit will be
issued to the informant. Kindly check the accuracy of the
particulars on these documents. It may save another trip back to
the RBD or NPP for amendments.
If suspected of death that
appears unusual or unnatural, the body will
be removed to the
Singapore General Hospital Mortuary - Centre of
Forensic Medicine for a Coroner's
Inquiry. The Inquiry will be performed before the death
certificate can be issued and the body released for final
disposition. If
a post-mortem report is required, you may click here for the link
to the application form.

Embalming
|
Our staff will collect the body
of the deceased once the death certificate is ready.
The body is then brought back to
our embalming theatre for embalming.

| Make
funeral arrangements
Decide the venue of the wake
Decide the mode of disposition
|
The family can come to our
office, or our funeral director may meet the family at some other appropriate
venue, to discuss and make arrangements for the funeral. Our
staff will assist the family to
see to all logistical arrangements
necessary for the wake and funeral, including the
booking of the
crematorium or burial plot.
A few important decisions are to
be made:
(1) Place to hold the wake - either in a funeral parlour, in the
house, at the flat's void deck, or at uncovered areas (if no void
deck or suitable shelter is available).
(2) Mode of Disposition - either
burial or cremation
- a). Burial - Choa Chu Kang Cemetery
- b). Cremation - Mandai
Crematorium, or the private crematoriums at Kong
Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery, and Tse Tho Aum
Temple.
|
| Sending
back the body |
Once the arrangements had been
finalised, the family will return to their home or proceed to the
parlour, and wait for the deceased to
be send back. At the
meantime, relatives and friends may be contacted to inform them of
the death.
We will send the deceased back
to the family once the embalming and dressing is completed, or at
a later time that is suitable for the family.
